Owen has served as a registered nurse in the state of Florida for over 20 years, ten of them in Hospice Care. While doing his work, he witnessed the incredible surplus of medical equipment that was left behind after patients passed away. This included hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, and nebulizers. Family members always asked the same question: “Who can we give this medical equipment to?”

Owen couldn’t find an existing organization to help him, so he started collecting the equipment himself. He then donated it to clients he met while volunteering at local free clinics.

After some initial success, Owen was encouraged by a friend to turn his new hobby into a not-for-profit agency and Clinics Can Help became a 501(c)3 in March 2005. Since then, the organization has received funding from Palm Health Foundation, Quantum Foundation, Allegany Franciscan Ministries and the United Way.

Under Owen’s dedicated leadership, Clinics Can Help has become a fully certified and recognized not-for-profit agency which has assisted over 10,000 residents of Palm Beach County by recycling and sharing $4,000,000 worth of medical equipment and supplies.
