About Us

How Did We Get Started?

When we first started, collecting medical equipment was easy, but distributing it was a little
harder. We didn’t have the funds to travel to all the clinics that we wanted to, so we often gave to people who were already on their way to help. We also enjoyed giving medical supplies to local (Palm Beach County, Florida) patients in need.

The KINDER Project (Kids In Need of Durable Equipment Right Now)

The KINDER Project provides medical equipment specifically for the needs of pediatric patients and their families. When a child is injured or becomes ill, parents and/or other members of the family often become full-time caregivers. Having the correct medical equipment ensures a child's safety, and if possible, a quicker recovery. The KINDER Project is especially concerned with helping families of children with brain or spinal chord injuries or congenital defects. Such children’s needs can be so high that even a family with very good insurance can have trouble purchasing the needed equipment.

The Lending Closet

The Lending Closet is our outreach to Palm Beach County’s under served. With over 275,000 residents at or near the poverty level, access to basic medical equipment can be an impediment to quality medical care. Can you imagine if you needed a wheelchair but had no insurance and didn’t have the $400 to buy a new one? How would you get around? See your family? Get back to work?

Every day, basic medical supplies make a difference in peoples lives. A hospital bed makes it easier for a woman to care for her dying father. A nebulizer helps a child with asthma to breathe. A wheelchair helps a man keep his mobility and return to work. A walker can help someone rehabilitate after falling and breaking a hip.

Our Lending Closet works very simply. If you know someone who is financially needy and in need of basic medical equipment ( walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, hospital beds, nebulizers, or patient lifts etc.) we can help. We “Lend” to the patients, they do not have to lend back.

If you need medical equipment you can call (561) 640-2995.

The C.R.I.B.S. Project

In response to the growing deaths and injuries due to infants and others sharing beds, the Department of Children and Famiies and the Clinics Can Help Foundation have teamed to form The C.R.I.B.S. Project (Cribs 'R for Infant/Baby Safety). The goal of this program is to keep children safe and reduce the number of deaths due to bed-sharing. Through The C.R.I.B.S. Project, the Department will provide an hour-long training to parents on safe sleep environments, proper bedding techniques, avoiding shaken baby syndrome and the ABCs of safe sleep (Babies should be Alone, on their Backs, in a Crib). Upon completion of the training, the parents will receive a portable crib (GRACO Pack 'n Play®), a sheet and a "onesie" with a safe-sleep message on it.

Discover Nursing

The Discover Nursing program supports schools that teach nursing and medical care with donations of medical equipment and supplies. Currently we are proud to be assisting West Boca Raton’s Community High School’s Medical Science Academy, Lantana Middle school’s magnate program, where students learn the basic concepts of nursing , surgical technique, physical therapy, and forensic medicine.
We have also donated to Florida Atlantic University’s Lynn School of nursing and Palm Beach County State College’s School of Nursing and the Academy of Practical Nursing. Our goal is to be able to support all the public nursing programs in Palm Beach County as they provide quality education on nursing and medical care.

To date CCH has donated hospital beds, patient lifts, wheelchairs, crutches, canes bedside commodes, examination tables, oxygen concentrators, Bi Pap machines, IV poles, tube feeding and feeding pumps, nebulizers, gloves, alcohols swabs, IV catheter kits, and surgical kits.

On 4/17/08 WBRCHS recognized CCH as a partner in Care. Our Discover Nursing program also supports the local chapter of Junior Achievement.

Local Free Clinics

We are proud of our relationship with the Caridad Center, located in Boyton Beach Florida, and continue to support them in their service to the over 25,000 patients a year. We have also supported Volunteers in Medicine clinic in Stuart, Florida and Dr. Abu’s Pulmonary clinic in Belle Glade Florida. Most of these patients earn honest livings, but not enough to provide quality medical care.

Free Clinics, such as these, provide so many people with the quality care that they deserve, but they cannot do it alone. Local free clinics can help many people if they are supported with the supplies they need. To date, we have donated medical, dental, diagnostic and nutritional supplies from clinics in need.

We look forward to forming relationships with all of the free clinics in Palm beach County as they support the medical need of over 275,000 patients in our county who are at or near the poverty line.
